There are... no strings... on me.

The rogue Chromobot Predator considers himself above all others. Once, he was an intergalactic despot, and any world that he didn't destroy or devour he instead bent to his will and ruled as a god. His reign of terror stopped with his imprisonment – but a recent escape has seen him depart for a backwards planet infested with carbon-based creatures, where he can find the technology he needs to enact his revenge on Chromos Five and the rest of the Chromobot Empire.

More than simply physically strong, the Chromatic Star Federation's files report Predator to be near indestructible, and he possesses acute hunting sensors. His keen intellect and reasoning mind allow him to modify alien resources to his own ends – perhaps even onto his own body, if his left arm is any indication – to create powerful weaponry and new forms of life. This adaptability makes him an unpredictable foe, putting Transmute's police team on the back foot with surprising new abilities like teleportation, psionic assimilation, and time travel.

What Predator has over most supervillains is that he actually succeeds.

"Call all you may upon your deity! None will save you from Predator!"

Fiction

Predator was a notorious Chromobot criminal. The Chromobots issue 16 According to his own boasts, he was responsible for destroying, devouring, and enslaving various planets. Issue 18 After disrupting the peace of Chromos Five by escaping from its prison system, Predator planned to head to Earth and combine its nuclear weaponry with Chromobot technology to create a super-weapon powerful enough to destroy his home planet. In response, the Chromatic Star Federation dispatched two police starships – one containing Transmute, Mikros, and Shield – to apprehend or annihilate Predator. Transmute, as the team's leader, related this story to Dudley, a human ally he and Mikros had fallen in with. Issue 16

Predator's first target on Earth was the nuclear arms designer Tessa Stone, owner of Stone Industries. Tracking her down to her apartment, Predator kidnapped Tessa, but her screaming alerted Dudley and the Chromobots. Transmute whanged Predator in the faceplate, announcing his name, affiliation, and mission. Issue 17 The two grappled; Predator refused to bow to a lowly cretin like Transmute, but his killing blow was prevented by an optic blast from Mikros. Predator was too quick to allow him a second shot, and he tossed Mikros across to the edge of the roof. Turning back to Tessa, he told her that her life would now be enriched in service to him, in the cause of destroying Chromos Five and dominating Earth! Issue 18 Predator silently threw Mikros off the edge of the roof, and then teleported away with Tessa – an ability Transmute didn't know he had. Issue 19

Rather than a teleportation ability, Predator actually had a time modulator. He took Tessa into the future, where he used her knowledge to successfully create a hybrid nuclear weapon. At Predator's command, the weapon destroyed Chromos Five and surrounding worlds in the Chromatic star system. By the year 2535, Predator had wiped out all human life on Earth Issue 25 with nuclear weaponry Issue 23 to clear the slate and allow him to start anew. Issue 25 He did so by creating the Mutants, human/Chromobot halfbreeds that were loyal to his commands. Issue 24 Looking to show his enemies the real extent of his power, he returned the injured and unconscious body of Tessa back to 1985 Issue 25 to act as bait. Issue 23

After their first encounter, Mikros was grateful they could retreat to Dudley's bedroom. When Shield volunteered to update the Chromatic Star Federation on their mission status, Transmute ordered him to tell them they wouldn't fail in overcoming Predator. Issue 20 Shield communicated to Cygnet at the C.S.F. about Predator's abduction of Tessa. Cygnet informed him that Predator's apparent teleportation left behind a distinctive pattern or vibration; she speculated to herself that his "teleports" shifted time to the Earth year 2535. Issue 21 The Chromobots' search for Predator took them to an area of countryside where the pattern or vibration had been detected twice. They didn't find the Chromatic criminal, but they did find Tessa, and were consequently lured into a time shift Issue 22 that took them to 2535. Issue 23

The Chromobots were attacked by Predator's mutants: the Brute, Issue 23 Rage, and Menace, who had been sent based on Predator's anticipation of his enemies' return. Issue 24 Predator himself arrived on the scene, where he ordered the Mutants to stand down so he could brag about his accomplishments. Transmute told the despot that they'd still be the thorn in his side, but Predator laughed him off, easily able to banish them from his empire by using the time modulator. This caught Dudley's attention, Issue 25 and the boy snatched the device from Predator's hand. While the Chromobots held off the Mutants, Dudley fled back to the location of the time shift, ending up back in 1985. His alien allies followed him through, and Shield destroyed the modulator with his force weapon. This had the effect of closing up the time shifts and destabilising time in the 26th Century, trapping Predator in a timeline folding in on itself and replacing all of his accomplishments with the future as it was intended to happen. Notes

  • Predator was included as part of a competition in issue 21 which required readers to pair characters with their opposites.
