"Predator is out to take over the world!"

Synopsis

Tessa Stone stares agog at the ridiculously lifelike robots fighting on the rooftop in front of her. Transmute grapples with Predator, ordering the Chromatic criminal to surrender. Predator boasts that he has destroyed and devoured worlds, and a god such as he will not be denied by a cretin...!

Before Predator's punch can connect, Mikros hits him with an optic blast. Impressed that he could damage such a bigged-up foe, he makes to get another shot in – but Predator is too quick for him, and the smaller Chromobot is thrown to the edge of the roof by a backhanded slap.

Tessa has nowhere to run as Predator rounds on her, proclaiming that she now serves a greater cause – the destruction of Chromos Five and the domination of Earth!

Quotes

"I have stood on planets that proclaimed me to be a god. I will not be robbed of victory over the destruction of the home world and my lordship of this primitve globe. By my hand – TASTE DEATH!!"

Predator prepares to ice Transmute.

Notes

Artwork and technical errors

  • The first part of Predator's defiant speech to Transmute has a few grammatical errors: firstly, it lacks punctuation between "I bow the knee to none" and a second, more emphasised "none!"; and secondly, "I have destroyed and devoured greedily, worlds." is definitely not how you construct a sentence.

Continuity errors

  • Mikros' referring to the Chromatic Star Federation in the third person – to repeat ourselves – continues to open up a whole can of worms.

Continuity notes

  • This is the first of two The Chromobots instalments in which Dudley is absent.

Real-life references

  • Tessa's acknowledgment that Earth technology has made breakthroughs in robotics might be a nod to Johnny Black's recurring "Robot Round-Up" feature. But let's pretend she's talking about Machine Man, eh?
