Brock Jones
A minor player in the life of Machine Man, Brock Jones is the vice president of Delmar Insurance and the brother of Maggie Jones.
Fiction
On Aaron Stack's first day on the job, Delmar president Byron J. Benjamin prepared to introduce him to Brock, but they were interrupted by Patrick Gilroy. Byte of the Binary Bug!
Aaron was eventually introduced to Brock several months later by Maggie, in a whispered conversation during an emergency meeting held by Benjamin. The following week, on Halloween, Brock attended a costume party at the unveiling of prototypical super-embassy developed by Delmar. He was with Maggie, Pamela Quinn, and Eddie Harris when Aaron arrived late. Maggie, irritated that Aaron had complemented his regular business suit with just a rubber mask, pulled his "man of steel" disguise off. Brock and his colleagues boggled and then laughed that Aaron had a robot fright mask on underneath.
Shortly afterwards, Brock and the other partygoers were trapped in the embassy when the villain Jack O'Lantern activated its security measures and locked down the building. After Machine Man defeated Jack, he made tracks to avoid any of Delmar's employees asking why his face looked just like Aaron's costume. Jolted by Jack O'Lantern!
Notes
Brock Jones on Marvel Database, an external wiki |
- Co-created by Marv Wolfman, Brock Jones was introduced in Daredevil issue 126, where he took on the mantle of the Torpedo. Subsequent appearances would reveal that his super-suit was a wanted bit of kit, leaving him a fugitive from operatives such as the Rocketeers. Wolfman wrote Brock into "Byte of the Binary Bug!" in what we can only assume to be him setting up a toy with which he could play later. After Wolfman left the book, Tom DeFalco shoehorned Brock into the final issue of Machine Man to at least try to provide a payoff to Wolfman's setup.
- Brock was much more prolific post-Machine Man; after he and his family relocated from New York City to Clairton, West Virginia in ROM issue 21, he became a supporting character to the titular Lord of the Solstar Order/Wraithslayer/Space Knight.
