Gloria Witherspoon
Gloria is the loving wife of Barry Witherspoon. Though keen to see her husband back in work, she knows that their desperation can lead them down a dangerous path.

At one point, Gloria appeared to have agreed for Barry to earn money by becoming a test subject for Dr Hiram R. Goldsmith, but as the experiment was imminent, she pleaded with Barry to change his mind. As Barry still intended to go through with it, Gloria tearfully left, and took their kids away from seeing their father become a lab rat.
From Gloria's perspective, Barry went missing for a few days. In actuality, the experiment had made him incredibly strong and suggestible to commands, and he had been sent on a crime spree by Archie Goldsmith and Fred Greenfield while dressed as Machine Man. The real Machine Man apprehended the crooks.
Gloria and the kids were present to watch as Machine Man's acquaintance Dr Oliver Broadhurst reversed the process on Barry, restoring his regular density and bringing him back to his senses. Barry, still dressed as Machine Man, reunited with his loving family. The Man Who Could Walk Through Walls
