Squink

Formerly the radio operator of the Confederation Cosmos Cruiser the Space Warp, Squink now spends his retirement at the Milk Toast Malt Shop, where he slobs around in the space equivalent of a tracksuit and rudely makes demands of the staff.

Fiction

Squink was formerly the radioman aboard the Space Warp. Some Answers Whatever happened to it, the Space Warp's captain blamed Squink, but he maintained that it wasn't his fault. The Saga of Princess Ugly He vowed that nobody must learn its secret. Malt Shop Menace

On the search for his long lost parents, Planet Terry encountered Enoch Diggs, who had served under Terry's father on the Space Warp. Though Diggs filled in as many details as he could, time had played tricks on his memory, and he encouraged Terry to seek out Squink for more information. Some Answers

Squink could be found at the Milk Toast Malt Shop on Asteroid 43KX. When Terry and his friend Robota entered the establishment, they asked a bartender about Squink's whereabouts, and he directed them to the ice cream freak at the other end of the bar. There they found Squink demanding another banana split; when the former radioman became violent after being refused service, the boss bartender set his bouncers Morthrott and Grmbil on him. Squink apparently fainted during the confrontation.

Terry and Robota attempted to stop Morthrott and Grmbil from throwing them to the Crocogaters, and in turn they were rescued by Omnus, a violent alien to whom they had shown mercy earlier. With the bouncers out for the count, Terry, Robota, and Omnus decided to get out while the going was good. Since Squink was unconscious, Robota had to carry him on their return to the ship.

While Squink recuperated, Terry told his two fellows that, though he hadn't yet found his parents, he had found a family. Unknown to them all, Squink had already regained consciousness and was reaching for a blaster, darkly vowing that no-one must learn the secret of the Space Warp. Malt Shop Menace

He pulled the blaster on Terry, and restated that no-one must learn the secret of the Space Warp, telling Terry that his father blamed him for what happened to it. Refusing to answer any of Terry's questions, Squink grabbed a jet pack and made to abandon ship. Robota warned him of an incoming astro tornado, but Squink wasn't going to fall for the old astro tornado due-any-moment trick, and he took off.
