Sol-Mac

The Sol-Mac is the latest development to come out of the prestigious Chem-Solar corporation. It is a microwave transmitter powered by solar energy, and capable of emitting highly amplified beams of radiation that can penetrate some of the hardest substances known to man.

Beyond its potential use as a weapon, the Sol-Mac can also be used to transmit data across astronomical distances, to the end of sending communications through outer space. Have the Sol-Mac's astonishing capabilities caught the interest of the villainous Baron Brimstone? Nah, he just wants to mass-produce it and sell it to get rich. That plan may have needed more time in the oven.

Fiction

The Sol-Mac was a creation of the scientists at Chem-Solar. On a May morning, not long after a successful test of the device proved it could pierce a block of reinforced titanium steel, the laboratory was invaded by Baron Brimstone, who sought to steal the device. The scientists raised the alarm, but Brimstone knocked out the guards. His next obstacle was the superhero Machine Man, who he blasted with the Sol-Mac. The power of the Sol-Mac shattered Machine Man's chestplate, but the Baron considered murder to be a last resort, so he fled with the device while the living robot was incapacitated.

With the assistance of his sinister Satan Squad, Baron Brimstone carried out a series of heists over the weeks that followed, each job centred on a component required to duplicate the Sol-Mac. Machine Man, who was investigating the Satan Squad under his civilian guise of Aaron Stack, received the Sol-Mac's technical specifications and studied them, reaching the conclusion that Brimstone would require a large quantity of microwave-insulating gold. As Machine Man, he successfully prevented the Satan Squad from stealing the famed golden bell from the cathedral of St. Gabriella of the Highlands.

After he boarded the Satan Squad's waiting helicopter to apprehend Baron Brimstone, the sorcerer once again turned the Sol-Mac on him. Machine Man had learned from their previous encounter to apply gold insulation to his most vulnerable points, and instead used the power of the helicopter's battery to electrocute the entire craft, stunning Brimstone and his men. With the immediate threat dealt with, Machine Man dismantled the Sol-Mac. Baron Brimstone and his Sinister Satan Squad!
