The people of the Domed City on Gorkel make use of saucers capable of short flights. Planet Terry refers to this type of vehicle as a "skimmer craft".
Fiction
Shortly after Planet Terry, Robota, and Omnus voyaged to the Domed City and broke the sleeping spell placed on Princess Ugly by her uncle Vermin the Vile, the princess explained that the prophetic holy book of the Gorkels predicted that her awakening would coincide with Domed City exploding when the Mayhem Maker went haywire. After the people fled in their proper spaceships, Terry and his friends "borrowed" a skimmer craft to escape the doom of the Domed City. The Doom of the Domed City
