Quarter Master Sibitsky

Strong as an ox, Quarter Master Sibitsky was an able seaman serving aboard the U.S. Navy ship Falcon.

Fiction

After the experimental submarine Squalus sank on the 23rd of May, 1939, Vice-Admiral Cole gave the order to deploy Falcon, along with Commander McCann and his diving bell. The boat's arrival at the scene of the accident was delayed by getting caught in a storm; it finally arrived around 4:15a.m. the next morning.

The use of the diving bell required there to be a rope fastened to the hatchway of Squalus. Sibitsky volunteered for the duty, donning the diving suit and descending over 200 feet to the sunken submarine. Sibitsky knocked on the hull to signal his presence to the crew, and after he received their response and attached the tether, he was pulled back up to Falcon. Trapped Beneath the Waves!
