Try not to cross paths with Omnus. First encountered by Planet Terry on Asteroid 43KX, this strange alien hates anything getting in his way, and will respond accordingly by smashing it with his vast strength. He's not comprehensive with it, though, as he won't deploy his bad manners or knuckle sandwiches to non-obstacles. But despite his tough guy quips and threats of physical violence – which often incorporate referring to himself in the third person – Omnus has a soft centre, he knows when to ask for backup or call it quits if he gets overwhelmed, and he operates on the principle of one good turn deserving another.

Even though he joined Planet Terry's crew for the boy's knack for starting darn good fights, there's something to Terry that has activated a protective streak in Omnus – perhaps it's sympathy that the boy has never even seen his parents. He has something of a brother/sister relationship with Robota, teasing her for her feelings for Terry and dismissing her with old-fashioned chauvinism; nevertheless, his protectiveness extends to her as well, and he commends her when she displays physical strength. No longer a loner, Omnus now proclaims that nothing will get in our way.

Fiction

In an absolutely foul mood, Omnus spent a day stomping through the forest on Asteroid 43KX, loudly declaring his hatred for anything that got in his way, including trees and bushes and Gnork hogs. The Milk Toast Malt Shop was lucky enough to not be in his path, but if he met anyone on the bridge across the Crocogater-infested moat, they'd be in for it. As it happens, his path was obstructed by some short kid and a bucket of bolts. When they refused to back off and allow him through, he asked if the kid wanted to become gator chow. The boy insulted Omnus' bad manners, so he took a swing at him – but he lost his footing and slipped into the moat. Omnus called for help as he was unable to fight off all the Crocogaters by himself, so the robot girl dived in to rescue him, despite her belief he didn't deserve it. Omnus thanked his saviours, who introduced themselves as Planet Terry and Robota, and he wandered off with his tail between his legs, telling them that he owed them one.

They ended up cashing in that favour pretty quickly, as when Omnus entered the Malt Shop, he found Terry and Robota apprehended by Morthrott and Grmbil, who intended to throw them to the gators. Omnus took on the two bouncers with ease, and the three interlopers fled the joint with the unconscious Squink in tow. Omnus warned his new companions that they were being chased by the Malt Shop's occupants, leading Terry to kick the log bridge free from its moorings, trapping their pursuers on the other side of the moat. Calling Terry a smart cookie, Omnus asked if he could join the boy's crew, as he suddenly felt unwelcome on the asteroid and wanted to see what other darn good fights Terry could drop him into. Terry accepted, and as they left the asteroid, he mused that he may not yet have found his parents, but with Robota and Omnus, he sure had found a family. Malt Shop Menace

As Terry expressed his excitement about being closer to finding his parents than ever before, Omnus pitied about how the boy had never even seen his parents. They soon discovered that Squink had regained consciousness when he pulled a blaster on him, vowing that no one must learn the secret of the Space Warp. Squink refused to answer any of his questions as Terry's father had blamed him for what had happened to the ship. Despite Robota's warnings of an incoming astro tornado, Squink grabbed a jet pack and jumped ship, his chances of survival slim.

Terry's ship was tossed around by the astro tornado, and it landed on the world of the Gorkels. Their spiritual leader, the Wise One, had the Gorkels throw a banquet for Terry and his friends, as they were "close enough" to fulfilling a prophecy from their holy book. The Wise One explained that it was foretold that alien creatures would arrive to save their beloved Princess (shudder) Ugly from her uncle, Vermin the Vile, who had placed her under a sleeping spell. After consulting with his prized picture frame, and with encouragement from Omnus and Robota that they were a family that worked together, Terry accepted the mission of rescuing the princess, especially as the Wise One would reward their deed by repairing the ship and allowing him to continue his quest. After the Wise One told them the job would be a piece of cake, another Gorkel reminded him of the myriad dangers between their settlement and the far-off Domed City, but Terry, Robota, and Omnus marched forward with a determined war cry of "close enough!" Notes

Jim Henson Omnus and George Lucas Omnus.
  • Omnus' species goes unmentioned in his The Transformers appearances; issue six of Planet Terry  reveals him to be a Fearzum from the planet Fearzumtia. A joke in the Burfian Solar System is "When I sees 'um, I Fearzum!"
  • As with Terry and Robota, Omnus's next appearance after Planet Terry concluded was in the 2009-2010 miniseries X-Babies which breathed new life into the Star Comics original characters. The first version of Omnus shown was part of the 24/7 dance party that was the cutesified and vapid Mojoworld  version of Planet Terry. Like Terry himself, this Omnus was revealed to be a construct based on the memories of the real Terry, who was imprisoned in a VR simulation. Once freed by the X-Babies, the real Terry returned to his time and space of origin, reuniting with Robota and Omnus.
    • Unlike the other two, Omnus doesn't appear in 2016's Drax  ongoing series. Guess that title already had a big, strong, green guy.
