Reed Richards is the brilliant leader of the Fantastic Four. He's the kind of guy who, on seeing his friend deformed into a hideous monster describable only as a "Thing", would immediately declare himself to be Mister Fantastic.

According to Spider-Man, the technology of the Cybertronian craft the Ark would make the Fantastic Four's brilliant leader, Reed Richards, feel like a kid at his first science fair. Prisoner of War!
Reed was out shopping with Sue when the Fantastic Four's headquarters, the Baxter Building, was broken into by Ion, seeking a cure for her condition. Afterward, they met up with the Torch and the Thing at the Quality Meat Market, where Machine Man had put Ion into suspended animation. Reed stroked his chin thoughtfully while Johnny explained the situation, but said nothing. Kill Me or Cure Me
