Edward the Confessor
From The Transformers UK Appendix
Edward the Confessor was the King of England. He died without leaving an heir, and this was a bad move.
Fiction
Edward the Confessor was the King of England and an Anglo-Saxon. Without an heir, he'd intended to pass the crown to William, Duke of Normandy.
Edward died early into 1066. Two men watching over his remains voiced their concerns that without an heir, the crown would go either Edward Atheling, Duke William, and Harold, an ally to the royal family. One of the men remarked that nothing good would come from having three apparent heirs. The Battle of Hastings – The True Story.
Notes
- Edward the Confessor was the final Anglo-Saxon King of England. His death here, "Early in 1066", happened on the 5th of January in real life. Historians have disagreed on whether or not he intended to hand the crown to William, but it's certainly a leading theory.
