Alternative Resources Centre
The Alternative Resources Centre, based in New York City, is one of the U.S.A.'s most renowned scientific research facilities. The teams within focus on developing "clean" (i.e. non-nuclear) sources of power, giving the centre its slogan, "Energy for Tomorrow!" Its insurance is covered by Delmar.

Fiction
Despite being one of the country's most respected research facilities, according to two of its lab technicians, the lights were only being kept on by Dr Voletta Todd and her advances in hydrogen fusion. Todd had worked for a year on the same project, but considered it a failure. In her overtired state, she made a mistake that caused a power overload, bursting her lab's energy bank, battering her with electro-magnetic energies, and setting the lab ablaze.
Delmar president Byron J. Benjamin heard of the fire, and dispatched his top investigator Aaron Stack, alias Machine Man. Aaron learned from a firefighter that people may still have been trapped in the building, and entered it in his superhero identity, freeing two technicians and encountering Dr Todd, who had been metamorphosed into a gaseous monster. His altercation with Todd only damaged the building further, and Machine Man narrowly escaped the foundations giving way. Kill Me or Cure Me
