Planet Zip is forced to adopt alternate forms of power.

Synopsis

An informative Zipponian tells us how the petrol shortage on Planet Zip has forced the development of robots with alternative sources of energy: a robot powered by tea that resembles a teapot, a robot powered by milk that resembles a cow, and a robot powered by Irn Bru that is dizzy from too much caffeine.

Notes

  • An "11" in the corner of a panel indicates that this, the twelfth strip published, was the eleventh strip Stringer drew. The previous numbered strip was the tenth, and was printed in issue 27; the next numbered strip is the twelfth, and was printed in the previous issue.
  • Beginning with this strip, Robo-Capers is printed in colour for the remainder of its run.

Artwork and technical errors

  • The punchline is unclear from the artwork; looking back on it in 2024, Lew Stringer admitted that his attempt at drawing over caffeination came off as making the robot appear intoxicated.[1] Irn-Bru is a soft drink, and not especially more caffeinated than half a cup of tea.

Continuity errors

Continuity notes

  • This is the first strip to identify Planet Zip by name.

Real-life references

  • Irn-Bru, pronounced (and formerly spelled) "Iron Brew", is Scotland's other national drink.
