A Zipponian has a mission that only a super speedy robot can carry out...
Synopsis
The King looks on with pride as he sees a Zipponian dispatching a robot on a mission to Earth. The King asks if the robot is to return with human defence plans, or kidnapped world leaders – but the Zipponian replies that it's half day closing on Earth, and he needed a bag of spuds.

Artwork and technical errors
- The King asks if the robot is stealing "the human's defence plans" – the apostrophe is misplaced, suggesting their enemy is merely one human.
Continuity errors
Continuity notes
- The incidental Zipponian has an inked black skin colour, and is one of the nonstandard designs for Zipponians that are phased out as time goes on.
- This strip is the first to suggest that Planet Zip's hated enemies are Earthlings.
- The King has a rotating set of headpieces in these early strips – today's is adorned with a propeller.
Real-life references
- To cut a very long story short, "half day closing" was a colloquial term referring to a day during the week where shops were (usually) required to close by (usually) 1 p.m. to allow the staff to have a free afternoon – typically on a Wednesday, at least in the case of the founders of a particular football team. The government act that mandated half day closing remained in force until its repealment in 1994 – the same year shops were allowed to start legally trading on Sundays.
