'''Shield''' is one of a team of heroic [[Chromobot]]s from the [[Chromatic Star Federation]]. Perhaps the most thoughtful and empathetic of the Chromobots, Shield appreciates the beauty of planet Earth and remains dedicated to preserving it and its lifeforms. Shield's main distinguishing feature is the force weapon he has in place of a right arm. It is capable of creating defensive "force bubbles" to protect himself and others, which he can manipulate as a means of travel, as well as more localised "force shields" for use as bludgeoning weaponry.

Following Cygnet's intel, Shield took Dudley and the other Chromobots in a force bubble to search the countryside for Predator. Transmute's psionic scan picked up a signal, which he and Shield discovered was the unconscious body of the abducted woman. Before they could take her to the ship for organic repair, the team was suddenly transported to a ruined city in the 26th Century. {{storylink|The Transformers issue 22/The Chromobots|Issue 22}} His readings confirmed that they had travelled at least 550 years into the future: [[Robot universe#2535|2535 AD]]. Shield pitied poor Dudley, who'd never asked to get involved in their mission, let alone lost in time. When Mikros was thrown through the air and landed in a damaged heap, Shield deduced that they weren't alone in the wasteland. Mikros's assailant was a monstrous [[brute]], but when you attack one of the Chromobots, you have to face them all, and Shield gave the creature a seeing to. The brute wasn't the only [[Mutant]] in the wasteland, as the Chromobots were soon taken on by Predator's other creations, [[Rage]] and [[Menace]]. After knocking the brute back again with his force weapon, Rage pounced on Shield, attempting to crush him. {{storylink|The Transformers issue 24/The Chromobots|Issue 24}} Shield gave the brute a pounding, but got a conk on the noggin in return. Dudley thought quickly and snatched Predator's [[time modulator]]. As the boy ran back to the time shift, Shield and the other Chromobots held off the Mutants. Dudley and Mikros were first to get back to 1985, and Shield and Transmute followed. Shield immediately destroyed the modulator with his force weapon, healing the time shifts and causing Predator's future to fold in on itself.
