Gunnbjorn was an explorer, and son of Ulf Drake.

Nearly two thousand years ago, the old folk of Iceland told a story of how Gunnbjorn sighted pastures new far overseas to the west. • Gunnbjorn is based on Gunnbjörn Ulfsson (a.k.a. Gunnbjörn Ulf-Krakuson), a Norwegian-born explorer who first sighted Greenland after being blown off course between Norway and Iceland. In real life, this occurred at some point between the years 876 and 932, long before Erik landed around 982.
• "Ulf Drake" appears to be some sort of error, and has no basis on historical fact.
