Synopsis

Dudley's mind is boggled by the group's transportation from the countryside to a ruined city. According to Transmute's sensors, they've travelled at least 550 years into the future – to 2535! Between Shield and himself, they reason that the abducted girl was bait for the time travel trap.

Meanwhile, Mikros gets the feeling that they're not alone. Floating over the wasteland with his unreliable jetpack, he surmises that this is the aftermath of a nuclear conflict... but despite the heavy death toll, he's certain he's being watched...

Suddenly, a creature swipes out at him – a large and powerful humanoid with a spiked metal helmet. Mikros dodges behind a ruin, but the brute headbutts straight through it. An optic beam blast to the helmet proves ineffective, so Mikros decides that, even though he's outmanned... it's time to dance.

Featured characters

Regular cast Antagonists

Quotes

(This entire place has been reduced to nothing but wasteland! It's plain to see that a nuclear war was fought. (Not that you're able to do much fighting in a nuclear war!))

Mikros's thoughts on nuclear conflict.

Notes

  • Someone other than Kazybrid has added a narrative footnote on the first page to clarify that "the girl" referred to is Tessa Stone.

Artwork and technical errors

Continuity errors

Continuity notes

  • Earth in 2535 has been ravaged by nuclear war.
  • Mikros refers to his crazy jetpack, which has been causing him troubles since the very first strip.
  • Mikros considers the alien words the brute speaks as "interesting". If there's any significance to that, it remains unexplained.

Real-life references

  • Aside from Dudley's jumper, Mikros remarks that the monster is tough enough to make Shield look like Humph the Cat.
